Mark Steward
Goodwill Industries of Mid-Eastern PA/Schuylkill
Cartridge King
Mark came to Schuylkill Cartridge King as a
senior from the Schuylkill County Intermediate
unit #29, through the A Work Study at program.
He was not sure of what type of employment he
would pursue upon graduation, but he envisioned
something in the mechanical field. He was
referred to Schuylkill Cartridge King through
the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to
participate in a Community Based Work Assessment
to match his interests and skills with possible
employment in his community.
After completing his assessment at Cartridge
King, Mark knew that he could be successful at
this job and that he would thrive in this
environment. Mark was correct about his success
in this field. After graduating, he was offered
a position at Schuylkill Cartridge King and he
accepted. Just a short time at Cartridge King,
Mark learned that he could overcome his barriers
to employment by working closely with the other
cartridge technicians and by learning from their
example. He also learned that by pacing himself
and by focusing his attention he could overcome
the obstacles that may have made employment
difficult.
Mark is hard working and self motivated. He is
an asset to Schuylkill Cartridge King and has
been instrumental in their order production,
exceeding quality and quantity standards set
forth by the production manager. Mark is
extremely polite and well mannered and can
always be counted on to step up to the plate on
any task asked of him. He is also involved in
the Special Olympics and enjoys participating in
several of the activities including running,
long jump, 100 meter, soccer, basketball and
skiing.
