Carol Lipner

Easter Seals Western Pennsylvania

Carol has been disabled since birth. Information about Carol’s developmental milestones is limited. It is known that Carol had difficulties at birth including complications with feeding, suckling, and breathing, which persisted until approximately 14 months of age. Carol attended special education classes in the South Hills School District until her graduation in 1975. Subsequently, Carol was enrolled in the Easter Seals Pre-vocational Day Program.

In 1976, Carol was referred to Easter Seals for evaluation and possible placement. She was described as lacking socialization skills, decisiveness, and self-confidence.

To know Carol today, one would be hard-pressed to believe those early descriptors. Carol exhibits a work ethic and skill set that can only be described as exceptional. She is a highly productive team member whose resolve and work ethics are inspirational to those around her. She has embraced many challenges over the years, having enthusiastically and successfully tackled such positions as Cutter Operator, Drill Operator, and Material Handler in addition to her current list of responsibilities. Carol has made and kept many friends at Easter Seals, and continues to be noted as a caring, friendly and trustworthy person. She prides herself on her continued independence and organizational abilities both in and out of Easter Seals.

Carol is an avid bingo player, meticulous housekeeper, and reportedly her skills with maintaining a checkbook are something to be envied. Her undaunted spirit truly makes Carol a special person.
