Ed Cherrington
Suncom Industries
Ed graduated from Southern Columbia High School
where he was an avid sports fan. He has a great
pleasure for all kinds of music. While in school
Ed lived with his mother. When graduating from
Southern Columbia in 1980 Ed moved into a group
living program. Ed did very well in this living
program and in 1982 he moved into his very own
living arrangement. Ed receives assistance from
CMSU to maintain his apartment.
Ed started with the mobile work force cleaning
crew in 1995, as a crew member. Ed works hard to
make sure all of his tasks are completed in a
thorough timely manner. He takes great pride in
his work. Ed expresses that work with the crew
gives him a sense of pride in himself. He says
it gives him a reason to get up everyday.
Besides working 5 nights a week with Mobile Work
Force, Ed is also employed in community based
employment. He has also been cleaning at the CSG
for 10 years. Ed can be found cleaning at the
Danville and Berwick Photo Centers each week. He
has been cleaning at the photo centers for
almost 10 years.
Ed shows strong commitment to his work, he still
struggles daily with frustrations related to his
diagnosis, Ed states that working directly with
a supervisor and job coach allows him to
overcome obstacles that would normally result in
negative behavior
